   Draughts Strategy

Draughts Dissected
A comparative investigation

Obviously tempo and pace play a large role in Draughts. Differences in pace can only arise by exchanges, for instance where an advanced man is exchanged for a defender or where a forward capture is answered by a backward one. Other major issues are opposition and blockade. Draughts' relatives like   HexDame   Croda   and   Dameo   know no one-on-one opposition and therefore have a tendency towards breakthrough and race, with hardly any possibility to keep a game closed. Breakthrough and race are key concepts in Draughts too, but they will not always materialize. Draughts games may remain closed till the end.

Apart from these offensively general remarks, I must confess that the subject 'strategy' is too extensive for this tutor (while the author is unqualified to address it in the first place). You're on your own!
